This young lady came in requesting breast implants. She was set on having them placed through the areolar incision. Her postoperative photos show tape on the incisions which she has decided to use to try to minimize scarring. I do not particularly like the periareolar incision as I believe it has a higher infection rate, a higher capsular contracture rate, higher rates of nipple sensation problems, and is not as accurate for pocket dissection. That being said some surgeons like this incision and some patients prefer to go through here.  As in every procedure that I offer I believe through education is very important and as long as a patient understands the higher risks involved with this incision then it is often a reasonable decision.
