Allergan Natrelle 410 Implant Approved by the FDA

The FDA announced approval today of the Natrelle 410 highly cohesive gel implant.  These anatomically shaped silicone gel implants are somewhat harder than the currently available Natrelle silicone gel implant but will undoubtedly offer an exciting option for ladies considering breast augmentation.

As part of the approval the FDA is asking Allergan to conduct several follow-up studies.

These implants will be available for both cosmetic breast augmentation enhancement and also breast reconstruction.

Sientra had their silicone shaped anatomic implant approved in March 2012 and this brings a second company offering a device.  Many plastic surgeons believe that this “highly cohesive implant” is more of a “gummy bear” consistency and may offer some advantages over currently available devices.

Stay tuned for much more information on this exciting approval!
