Breast Augmentation Revision: Patient 16
This lady presented with capsular contracture in 20 year old saline implants. Capsular contracture is a hardening of the pocket that holds the implant. In mild cases the implant feels firm. In more advanced cases the implant gets hard but also changes shape. In more severe cases there is also pain associated with capsular contracture. This patient is shown 20 years out from her initial augmentation. Her natural breast tissue hands down over the bottom of the breast in a somewhat "Snoopy" shaped deformity. The surgical solution to her breast revision involves removing her old implants, removing the capsule around the implant, placing the implants in a new pocket under the muscle, and also performing a lift to her natural tissue. This patient shown had 350cc implants and downsized to 225cc implants. She has a much softer breast implant result postoperatively and a much more natural undistorted appearance.
