Breast Augmentation Revision: Patient 38
Ever wonder what a deflated saline breast implant looks like? I originally did this patient's breast augmentation 15 years ago. Over the last year she noted that her left breast was shifting and then suddenly deflated. The nice thing about saline breast implants is that when they leak the leak is obvious. You can see in these photos how the breast simply deflates and collapses. You can almost see the edges of the rolled up breast implant shell as this patient is very lean and you can certainly feel it as the edges of the empty breast implant shell often pokes at the patient and feels uncomfortable. We discussed options and 15 years ago most patients were getting saline breast implants but these days almost all patients choose silicone gel breast implants as they have proven over the years not only to be safe but they also feel much more natural and look more natural with less rippling especially on patients who are thin like this. She decided to go slightly larger than the 270cc I initially did 15 years ago and we went to 325cc with Allergan SoftTouch SSF Full profile gummy bear silicone breast implants.
