Xeomin(R) is FDA approved for temporary improving treatment of the Glabella or “frown” lines or the “11″ lines between the eyebrows. The FDA announced this approval of Xeomin(R) (incobotulinumtoxinA). This is the latest product, like Botox(R) and Dysport(R) to temporarily reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles to to muscle activity.
Unlike Botox(R) and Dysport(R), Xeomin(R) will not need to be kept in a refrigerator. This will likely be more convenient for the plastic surgeons using the product and for shipping (Botox is usually shipped on dry ice) but will have little impact for the patient. Also, the medicine is not bound to a carrier, so may have less chance of inducing antibioties which may decrease their action.
Xeomin(R) has already been widely used in 14 other countries under the brand name Bocouture(R).
Xeomin(R) is expected to be released for use in Spring 2012 at which point plastic surgeons in New Jersey and throughout the country will have another product in their aesthetic arsenals!
