Breast Augmentation #32148

This young lady came in looking to increase the size of her breasts. At 21 years old she was upset that she never really developed much breast volume and wanted to increase her size. The FDA has silicone breast implants approved for cosmetic use in ladies over 22 years old. They don't give a real reason as to how they come up with the age 22 and as a physician I do not really understand the physiologic difference between putting implants in a 21 year old versus a 22 year old. That being said since this is the package labeling, I follow the instructions and only use silicone for cosmetic patients in patients over 22. Thus, this lady had a choice of getting saline or waiting until she was 22. She chose to go with saline breast implants. She is shown here before and after placement of high profile saline 380cc breast implants with a very nice result.
