Presidential Sutures

I just read on the news the President Obama got elbowed in the lip today while playing basketball and required 12 sutures to the lip.  12 sutures implies that there was a decently sized laceration.

I find it intriguing that I get called weekly by a parent of a 2 or 3 year old child with a laceration on his or her little lip requesting a “plastic surgeon” to repair the damage so that the child is not scarred.  The “ER Docs” are never good enough to take care of so many people I am told yet the President doesn’t need one?

Why wouldn’t the President get one?  Is it because he really didn’t need one?  He seems to care about what he looks like!    Seriously, he is in the spotlight all of the time and deserves to have the least amount of scarring.  Is it because of a fear of the perception of having a “plastic surgeon” fix him?   Perhaps the “white house” was afraid that people would claim he was asking for a higher level of service than the average Joe?  Let me tell you, the average Joe often requests this a plastic surgeon.  Perhaps it was because in the new health care reform, nobody will be able to get a plastic surgeon.  No, that’s just me being cynical.

Anyway, I hope that he heels well.  Otherwise he can always get a scar revision……
