Consultation Information

Consultation for elective surgery is the process where you can learn about the procedures and alternatives available to you while Dr. Sorokin gets to know your goals and interests. This is a give and take process with the goal of patient education. The typical process takes from 30 to 60 minutes and starts with Dr. Sorokin and his staff asking you questions about:

  • What are your concerns?
  • What medical conditions and previous medical treatments have you had?
  • Current medications including vitamins, herbal supplements and recreational or drug use
  • Family medical history including breast cancer in the family and previous breast health
  • Your goals and desires

We will discuss options for each concern such as non-invasive nonsurgical and surgical options. Dr. Sorokin will answer questions and then a physical exam will be performed. After this he can discuss options for you in more detail specific to exam findings. For breast implant procedures implant sizing with sample implants can then be performed and different types of implants will be shown to you. Many patients will have questions for us that they prepare in advance.

Scars are a permanent trade-off in all surgeries that Dr. Sorokin performs. No surgeon can guarantee the quality of a scar, as much is involved including medical history and genetic factors, in addition to surgical technique. Dr. Sorokin will review the potential location and significance of these scars during your consultation.

All surgery involves some level of risk. Depending on the specific procedures being recommended, we will review both common and less common risks. A patient coordinator will then meet with you to go over prices, as well as financing options.

Our goal for the consultation process is that you leave our office with answers to any questions that you have and feel comfortable with your potential options. We provide you with phone numbers and email addresses to contact us with any questions that you may think of once you get home. For every patient, our number one priority in consultation is that you are comfortable with your decision.
