Your Makeover Options

Dr. Sorokin can combine many different procedures to achieve the rejuvenation you want. Women can choose from a variety of procedures for the body and breasts, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Breast Augmentation
  • Breast Reduction
  • Breast Lift
  • Tummy Tuck
  • Liposuction

Discussing your goals and concerns with Dr. Sorokin can help you decide which approach is right for you. Whatever you decide, Dr. Sorokin will explain the process, results, and benefits you can expect from your Mommy Makeover.

The Procedure

How Dr. Sorokin will perform your Mommy Makeover will depend on the procedures you choose to undergo. Most women choose to combine body contouring procedures with breast enhancement procedures such as breast augmentation or lift with breast implants. Once you decide which procedures you will have, Dr. Sorokin will explain how he can combine your procedures for maximum benefit to you. Usually, most Mommy Makeovers can be performed in one operation, which means you only have one recovery period instead of several, as you would with staged procedures.

Risks and Recovery Following Mommy Makeover

Dr. Sorokin will assess your health and medical history during your consultation to help you understand the risks and benefits of a Mommy Makeover as they pertain to you as an individual.

Most women recover quickly from a Mommy Makeover, but the length of your recovery period will depend on the procedures you choose. Tummy tuck typically takes about 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover from, but patients can return to work within 1 to 2 weeks. Breast augmentation takes less total recovery time, with patients typically ready to return to work within 1 to 2 weeks.

Mommy Makeover FAQs

Absolutely not! “Mommy Makeover” is simply a term for a combinational procedure that generally includes breast enhancement and body contouring. Although a Mommy Makeover can be especially beneficial for women whose bodies have changed as a result of pregnancy and childbirth, the same procedures can also rejuvenate the bodies of women who haven’t had children, too. The best part of a Mommy Makeover is that it’s completely customizable. You may choose to focus on your own areas of concern while leaving other parts of your body untouched.

Typically, a Mommy Makeover includes a combination of body and breast enhancement procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast augmentation. At his New Jersey practice, Dr. Sorokin emphasizes the importance of customization and wants every Mommy Makeover patient to be satisfied with her unique results. By combining these procedures into a single surgery, the “wow” factor is maximized while overall downtime is reduced. Other popular options for a Mommy Makeover include:

  • Breast lift or breast reduction
  • VASER® Lipo
  • Non-surgical treatments such as laser skin rejuvenation or injectable fillers

During your consultation, Dr. Sorokin helps you determine your eligibility for these and other procedures. He guides you through the decision-making process to ensure you choose the surgeries that will best provide your desired results without sacrificing your safety or well-being.

Dr. Sorokin offers a rapid recovery procedure to most of his breast augmentation patients in New Jersey. This technique makes use of state-of-the art surgical tools, specialized anesthesia, careful surgical techniques, and specific instructions for postoperative care. Many of Dr. Sorokin’s breast augmentation patients are back to work in only 3 or 4 days. Traditional breast augmentation techniques often require weeks of recovery time.

If you choose to incorporate a breast augmentation into your Mommy Makeover, you’ll likely be pleasantly surprised by your relatively low level of discomfort. However, if your Mommy Makeover includes other invasive procedures, such as tummy tuck, your recovery time will be longer. During your consultation, Dr. Sorokin explains the details of your surgery, including your predicted recovery timeline. Although he works to create the best results with the least amount of downtime, he stresses the importance of patience and good follow-up care after a Mommy Makeover at his New Jersey practice.

The cost of a Mommy Makeover at Delaware Valley Plastic Surgery varies from person to person and is dependent on many factors. Dr. Sorokin understands the large role that cost plays when considering plastic surgery, so he offers concise, transparent pricing guidelines to each patient. The cost of a Mommy Makeover includes:

  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Anesthesia fee
  • Facility fee
  • The cost of breast implants, if applicable
  • Preoperative blood work or other tests
  • Postoperative supplies including surgical bras, compression garments, drains, and dressings

Dr. Sorokin urges prospective patients to consider other expenses, such as prescription medicines, when making the decision to undergo a Mommy Makeover.

Our staff is happy to offer cost estimates over the phone, but you may request a customized, written quote during your consultation. This appointment is also an excellent opportunity to discuss payment and financing options with Dr. Sorokin and his staff.

How can I prepare for a Mommy Makeover?

As with other surgeries, it’s important for Mommy Makeover patients to have a strong support system at home. During the initial recovery period, you’ll need lots of help around the house. If friends or family are not available, you might arrange private nursing care for help during the first few days after surgery. Other good ways to prepare include:

  • Stocking the kitchen with nutritious, ready-to-eat meals and snacks. Although some medications can diminish your appetite, it’s important to nourish yourself while your body heals. Popular choices include smoothies, low-salt soups, and fresh fruit.
  • Filling your prescriptions in advance.
  • Closely reading Dr. Sorokin’s instructions for before and after surgery and getting answers to any questions you may have.
  • Discontinuing the use of some medicines and supplements. Dr. Sorokin advises you on which ones you should postpone.
  • Preparing your home. Many patients find that they go through a “nesting” period before surgery. A clean and organized home can reduce your stress and enhance your overall well-being while you recover. Keep your favorite movies, magazines, and books on hand, choose a comfortable recliner to sleep in during the first few nights, and be sure you have plenty of supplies such as toilet paper, baby wipes, and lotion.

Because Mommy Makeovers are customized to suit each woman’s preferences, there is no hard-and-fast timeline for recovery. The specifics of your own recuperation depend largely on which procedures you have, your anatomy and body condition, and your adherence to instructions, including keeping your follow-up appointments.  Even if you have a high pain tolerance and feel better relatively quickly you will need to rest to allow your body to heal!

Many Mommy Makeover patients feel well enough to return to office jobs or other light activities after 1 to 2 weeks, while those who work more physically demanding jobs may need more time. Soreness and discomfort during the first few days after surgery are not uncommon but are manageable with prescribed medicines. Dr. Sorokin emphasizes that a good surgical outcome is a team effort, so he provides you with specific instructions to follow at home.

Mommy Makeover surgery does not affect the reproductive system, so it is physically possible to become pregnant after surgery. However, Dr. Sorokin advises against it, as pregnancy can alter or even reverse your results.

If you’re considering having more children in the future, it may be in your best interest to postpone your Mommy Makeover. During your consultation, Dr. Sorokin helps you determine your eligibility for Mommy Makeover or other cosmetic procedures.
