This 18 year old came to see me with her mother at her side for breast enhancement. She did not like that with small breasts she felt uncomfortable in bathing suits and clothing and was looking for a proportional result. At 18 she is only eligible for saline breast implants as silicone implants are only FDA approved in patients over 22 years old. In my opinion she would have been better served with silicone implants as when a patient is very thin and starts with very little breast tissue, saline implants have a much higher tendency of rippling and they certainly feel more artificial. I always discuss the possibility of waiting until she turned 22 but many women do not want to do this. This patient decided to proceed with breast augmentation with 330cc saline high profile implants. She is shown before and after with a nice, proportional result.
