Breast Augmentation: Patient 205
This is a lovely 33 year old patient of mine who desired breast enhancement. She wanted to be full and proportional to her body. After 2 kids she felt that her breasts had lost their fullness and firmness and had some droopiness to them. We discussed in detail options for breast implants and she chose silicone breast implants as they typically look and feel more natural. I placed 415cc Allergan Natrelle SSF Full profile breast implants through a crease incision under the muscle. At 6 weeks postoperative they are starting to take a nice shape as they drop into place however on the lateral and oblique views you can see that they have not fully dropped yet. I tell patients that this typically takes about 100 days or a little over 3 months until they have settled into place. One of her concerns especially with small kids is recovery time. There are different stages of recovery. The first few days have a good amount of pressure and often patients will take some pain medication or at least Tylenol. After 3 or 4 days they are back to doing most things but lifting a small child cannot be safely done until about a week out. At 10 days once cleared I allow my patients to do light exercise but no chest exercise yet. Recovery continues until the 100 days point when all is pretty much healed.
