Some of the first signs of aging appear on the face as dynamic wrinkles, which are the lines and creases caused by repeated muscle contractions such as smiling and squinting. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Evan Sorokin uses BOTOX at his New Jersey practice to give patients exceptional facial rejuvenation without surgery. Patients choose BOTOX treatments to treat a variety of common trouble spots, such as:

  • Large creases or furrows across the forehead
  • Small wrinkles or crow's feet around the eyes
  • Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows

Administering BOTOX

BOTOX treatments are popular because they are safe, quick, and effective. Dr. Sorokin will place an anesthetic cream on the skin prior to treatment. He then injects small amount of BOTOX into the area of the targeted wrinkles, and immediately applies ice when the entire process is complete. Patients should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for at least 4 hours after the injections. Patients should also to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.

What To Expect

A BOTOX treatment works by temporarily altering the facial muscles beneath the skin that form dynamic wrinkles on the surface. Once injected into precise areas of facial muscles, impulses from the nerves to the facial muscles are blocked. As a result, the underlying facial muscles relax and the skin gradually smoothens. Most patients notice improvement within 3-5 days and reach the maximum improvement within a few weeks. The effects of treatment will last approximately 3-6 months, after which many patients choose to return to Dr. Sorokin for a touch-up procedure.

Expected Cost

The total cost of a BOTOX treatment will be based on the amount of syringes used. Each syringe costs around $350 and usually 1-3 syringes are used during a session.

BOTOX Cosmetic FAQs

BOTOX & Fillers?

Many patients decide to combine BOTOX Cosmetic treatments, a wrinkle relaxer with injectable fillers like JUVÉDERM or Restylane. Since injectable fillers and BOTOX Cosmetic treat different types of wrinkles, combining them can provide for a more comprehensive rejuvenation.

BOTOX is approved by the Food and Drug Administration and is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in America. As long as BOTOX is administered by a licensed medical professional, like Dr. Sorokin, it is safe and low risk.

Permanent Results?

The results of BOTOX will last several months or more, but will eventually fade. Patients who want to keep the effects of their BOTOX should schedule regular appointments with Dr. Sorokin. Surgical options can also be discussed if the patient wants longer lasting results.
