"Amazing dr!! I had liposuction 9yrs ago. Dr. Sorokin did an amazing job. He even did lipo on my lower abd, supra pubic area even tho I wasn't concerned about it but he said when I get older it will be one of the hardest places to loose weight. 9yrs later my friends are still jealous of my stomach. The day after surgery my arm was swollen and enlarged being a healthcare worker you think I'd know better but I was worried about a blood clot. Dr sorokin saw me immediately. I wrapped the bandage on my arm too tight! He loosened it and it was fine. Lol! He was so patient. One of my visits He was taking off the bandaid it hurt so bad, my reflex was to smack his hand. He laughed and allowed me to take it off myself."- Anonymous / / Dec 03, 2011
"I am very happy with my experience at Delaware Valley Plastic Surgery. After 2 c-sections, breast feeding, and a 30 pound weight loss, by body was looking much older that it was - I had the wrinkly, saggy mommy belly, and saggy breasts. I felt wonderful and healthy, but didn't look as good as I felt. A friend recommended Dr. Sorokin because she was very happy with her liposuction experience. When I went to the office the first time for a consultation, I felt at ease immediately. What a wonderful staff! I scheduled my surgery, and after a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast implants, I finally looked as great outside as I felt inside! I only wish that I had done it sooner! A friend was so impressed with how I looked, she scheduled her surgery with Dr. Sorokin a few months later. By the way, she looks great too, and was also very happy with her experience, and has recommended Dr. Sorokin to her friends and family as well. Definitely 5 star service!!!"- Google User / / Jun 18, 2009
"Dr. Sorokin is an excellent surgeon. I had several procedures done, by surgeon(s) who catered to NYC elite, Dr. Sorokin rates as one of the best. There are so many things that impressed me that I am going to list a few. When I first met Dr. Sorokin, I was amazed how he listened to my request what I wanted him to do. He presented several options, and recommended the procedure which would give me the best results. He never promises what he cannot achieve. This made me feel at ease from day one. There is a sense of trust with Dr. Sorokin. He?s very thorough in evaluating you. His staff shares the same traits as Dr. Sorokin. They make sure one is comfortable and well cared for. I had liposuction done, results surpassed my wildest expectations. What an artist. The staff treated me as one of the family. When my anxieties ran overtime, I would call the office with question(s); the staff always answered my concerns putting my mind at ease. Dr. Sorokin cares about his patients. Dr. Sorokin is accessible via emails. This is a luxury I never had before. He always responds within the same day. I am so impressed with his care and excellent work, I finally can stop looking. Tumescent "Super-Wet" Lipo@headingTag>
Tumescent liposuction is a common approach used by surgeons. It is a suction-assisted (SAL) form of lipo that first injects a liquid agent into the area that is to be treated. The liquid agent includes saline, Lidocaine (a numbing agent) and Epinephrine (a medication that controls bleeding). A cannula is then inserted and passed through the fat deposits, suctioning them out. An attached power-aided motor allows the surgeon to control the speed of the fat removal, which can be as great as a few pounds or as little as several ounces.
Ultrasound-Assisted Lipo (UAL)@headingTag>
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (known as “ultrasonic”) is a technique used on areas where a greater amount of dense fat resides. It’s a dual process using ultrasound and suction. First, ultrasound waves transmit energy through a special device aimed to help loosen and melt the fat. This liquid is then suctioned out using a cannula. UAL liposuction is commonly used on men seeking a higher level of muscular definition. You may hear this type of liposuction referred to as hi-def liposuction or VASER® Lipo, or simply Vaser hi-def.
Laser-Assisted Lipo (LAL)@headingTag>
Laser-assisted liposuction uses laser technology to introduce a burst of energy to the specified area of fat. The laser loosens and liquefies the fat for removal. This particular type of liposuction includes brand names such as SmartLipo, SlimLipo, Lipolite Laser Liposculpture, LipoLite, and ProLipo PLUS.
Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited surgical facility. It is considered an outpatient procedure. On average, each body part (i.e. tummy, thighs, etc.) will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. After surgery, patients will wear a compression garment on the treated areas. It takes about a full week for the bruising and swelling to dissipate, and can take several months for the final results to appear. Liposuction will produce scars where the cannula incision was made, but these are usually small and will fade over time.
The price for liposuction will vary depending on the technique used and the extent of the surgery. The average cost of liposuction in the U.S. for the most common body parts are outlined below:
- Abdomen: $3,000-$7,000
- Arms: $2,500-$5,000
- Buttocks: $2,500-$4,000
- Chin: $2,500-$4,500
- Inner Thigh: $2,500-$5000
- Outer Thigh: $2,500-$5,000

How Safe is Lipo?@headingTag>
The media sometimes tells stories of liposuction patients who have endured bad results at the hands of inexperienced surgeons. Today’s liposuction techniques are much safer and more predictable than ever before, but surgeon skill still remains the number one factor when researching this procedure. The goal is to attain a natural and smooth result. An experienced surgeon will be able to provide this outcome.
Is Lipo Permanent?@headingTag>
The good news is, fat cells that are removed during liposuction do not come back. Unfortunately, patients can still gain weight after surgery because the remaining cells can expand and become larger. However, patients who adhere to a healthy diet and exercise program will continue to see results years after surgery.
How Much Fat?@headingTag>
The amount of fat removed really depends on the size of the patient and their aesthetic goals. From a safety standpoint, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends roughly 10 pounds of fat or less. Otherwise it is considered a high-volume liposuction, which does present an increased set of risks. It’s advised to get down to your ideal weight before undergoing a liposuction procedure.
Skin Tautness (Laxity)?@headingTag>
Liposuction is a surgery that removes fat and enhances the actual shape of the body. It does not address skin imperfections caused by sagging skin or cellulite under the skin. During your consultation, a discussion can be had regarding the available procedures, which address and improve skin texture. Some procedures recommended to correct skin laxity include abdominoplasty, thigh lift, neck lift, and butt lift surgeries.
