BOTOX® Cosmetic in New Jersey
By now, practically everyone has heard of BOTOX® Cosmetic, but many people don't know all the advantages it can offer, or have a mistaken impression of just what the treatment does. The procedure gives doctors a new option for minimizing certain types of wrinkles without having to resort to plastic surgery. New Jersey and Philadelphia patients have been excited to see their new, younger look shortly after treatment.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a relatively new option that employs clostridium botulinum to treat the visual signs of aging by reducing or removing wrinkles. The procedure is considered a safe, effective way of treating aging skin, and particularly good at minimizing "dynamic wrinkles," or those wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions such as smiling. Common areas for injections include horizontal forehead furrows, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and "crow's feet" around the eyes. The treatment has proven to be one of the most effective non-surgical forms of facial rejuvenation and is capable of producing phenomenal improvements in your appearance.

Reasons for Considering BOTOX® Cosmetic
New Jersey patients with the following problems find that this treatment option offers safe, non-surgical correction:
- Excessive facial wrinkles
- Large creases or furrows in the forehead
- Small wrinkles or "crow's feet" around the eyes
- A vertical "frown line" between the eyebrows
The BOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure
This treatment works by altering the facial muscles beneath the skin that form dynamic wrinkles on the skin surface. Dr. Sorokin will place an anesthetic cream on your skin prior to treatment, and immediately apply ice upon completion of the injection process. Typically a small amount (1 to 2 cubic centimeters or cc's) of cosmetic treatment is injected into the area of the targeted wrinkles, where it works to block impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles, thereby relaxing them. As a result, the underlying facial muscles relax and the skin begins to smooth out. The effects of treatment will last approximately three to six months, after which many patients choose to repeat the procedure.
Recovery Following Application of BOTOX® Cosmetic
Our New Jersey and Philadelphia patients generally return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, and carefully following the post-procedure guidelines will dramatically reduce the length and intensity of your recovery period. You should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat at least four hours after the injections. Dr. Sorokin also will advise you to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.
Through his experience applying BOTOX® Cosmetic, New Jersey cosmetic surgeon Dr. Sorokin is able to improve moderate to severe brow lines, giving you a younger complexion.
